Bloomingdale FD Makes Quick Knock-down on Fully-involved Apartment Fire

The Bloomingdale Fire Department was dispatched to a reported working structure
fire on Friday February 1st at approximately 7:25 am. Upon entering the complex First
Deputy Fire Chief Mark Lime established command alerting incoming units he had a
fully involved apartment on the 2nd story with fire showing from 3 sides of the structure.
He quickly activated a second alarm for Butler Fire Department and a FAST Team from
Pompton Lakes Fire Department.
Lime requested an aerial master stream to be placed in service from Ladder Company
664 upon arrival. Engine 661 laid a supply line to support master stream operation.
The fire was knocked down rapidly and then interior crews made entry to suppress the
remainder of the fire containing it to the single apartment.
The 2 occupants of the apartment were assessed on scene by Tri Boro First Aid Squad
and were then air lifted to St Barnabas Medical center.

On Monday Night, the BFD participated in a mutual aid drill in the West Milford community of High Crest Lake. Engine 661 established a water supply from High Crest Lake to supply Ladder 664 for simulated aerial operations at the clubhouse.

The Bloomingdale Fire Dept is holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser on April 26, 2015 from 8 am until Noon at the Firemen's Hall, 97 Hamburg Tpk, Bloomingdale. The fundraiser will benefit the restoration and preservation of our 1940 Holabird Fire Engine (the "USA").

At approximately 10:30pm on Tuesday, July 17th, an apartment in a building at 91 Main St. caught fire. Patrolmen David Terpstra and Kevin Peirsel of the Bloomingdale Police Department forced entry into the smoke-filled apartment and rescued the single occupant of the apartment.
