The Bloomingdale Fire Department continued to celebrate its 100th anniversary with the anticipated field day event on June 26th 2010 at the Waler T Bergen School. The day was filled with good weather and plenty of things to do for everyone in attendance.
On hand for the day were several antique fire apparatus from various towns and collectors. Participants included Franklin Fire Department, Community Fire Company ( West Milford), Franklin Lakes Fire Department, Wanaque Boro Fire Department, Moonachie Fire Department, Passaic County Fire Academy, Riverdale Fire Department, Andover Fire Department, Privately Owned engines included a American LaFrance previously in service from Bogota Fire Department and a Mack CF600 previously in service with the East Branch fire department.
The Bloomingdale Fire Department was fortunate enough to be able to display its original 1940 Holabird pumper better known as the USA. The USA was brought back to town less than 48 hours before the event marking another historical moment for our 100th Anniversary.
Sponsoring the event with food for the day was Applebee's of Butler and Chili's of Riverdale. The Bloomingdale Fire Department would like to extend our thanks to both organizations for their support.
The day continued to on with live performances by the 3M and Aisle 5 bands providing hours of music and entertainment.
There were rides for the children and plenty of activities throughout the afternoon. The evening came to a close with the town fireworks display. It was a great end to a eventful day on our centennial celebration.
We once again would like to thank everyone who supported us to make this a successful event, along with all those in attendance on this historical day for the Bloomingdale Fire Department.
