Your Chance to Make a Difference in Your Community!

Have you ever looked out the window and watched a fire engine pass and thought to yourself how great it would be to be on that truck?  Have you ever stood on the side of the road at a parade and watched the firefighters as they proudly marched by dressed in their uniforms and thought how great it would be to be marching in line?  How many times have you thought to yourself that you might enjoy being a part of the excitement, tradition, and camaraderie that comes with being a volunteer firefighter?

Volunteer firefighters come in all shapes, sizes, colors and ages. The Bloomingdale Fire Department is made up of people just like you who have full-time jobs and families but have decided that they can also make time in their schedule to help their friends and neighbors during their times of need. Our volunteer firefighters are men and women, high school students, engineers, technicians, mechanics, business owners, truck drivers, tax accountants, insurance associates, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and retired professionals.

The rewards of being a volunteer fire fighter are plentiful. There is the sense of accomplishment that comes from controlling a fire, the timid "thank you" that is received from an accident victim, and the satisfaction that goes along with teaching children about fire safety.

The Bloomingdale Fire Department has a proud history that comes from providing emergency services to the citizens of the borough. If you are willing to share some of your time and energy, we will provide you with the training and equipment you need to safely help your friends and neighbors.  We are always accepting applications from borough residents who are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter.

General Requirements:

  •  Shall be a minimum of 18 years of age

  •  Shall reside in Bloomingdale Borough, Passaic County for a minimum of 6 months
